Into the Forest...
I really, really have to praise the book, Into the Forest by Jean Hegland for being positively the best book I have ever read, apart from Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut (but these are two entirely different books you see).
The book tackles so many of the key emotions in life. It goes through so many of the experiences people have, the experiences they love, the experiences they hate.  
The book is a diary of sorts written by the sister, Nell, that goes through the course of the few years in their lives (her and her families) after the country is thrown into anarchy. It's really such a poignant tale. Not to mention....
