A Positivly Mind Blowing Experience | I was digging around, and found these... enjoy :)
1.
Think of me
and as you do
take my life and hold it
as sands flit through your fingers
dont try to catch one grain
dont try to stop a moment passing
let the time flee
dont cling to what has gone
but look to what you dream

Dream of me
and as you do
take my heart and hold it
as we build castles in the clouds
dont tread too sure on heavens soil
dont take for granted this makeshift home
for happy times are fleeting
dont live just for your dreams
but reside in what you know
----------
2.
The tears I weep are not my sorrow
I cry for loss- for dead tommorows
Of fear that you will not be therr
And so, make pointless time we share
I weep in fear, in angst, in pain
It's true tears can clense, yet mine only stain
They fall for you- your naive heart
In blindness you tear mine apart
In caring, in being, and now in leaving
Here am I broken- for friendship greaving
My tears cannot stop you, nor would I wish to
I know in love that I must release you
So I lend you my spirit, my life and my heart
Please know that I am with you, though we be apart
I pray that in future, as present and past
Though only in memory, our friendship will last
----------
3.
Fairy tales of broken homes
Teddy bear picnics in the park
Then dolly tucked tightly in her bed
And hidden tears after dark
Ring-a ring-a roses
Time for hide and seek
Under the blankets out of sight
To aid a broken sleep
Princess perfect castles
Golden curls of hair
The moon in the skies that lights your eyes
Is the only one who cares
----------
4.
hiding my heart behind a smile
temporary happiness lasts but a while
our childish games we play, but still
my hidden intent is a secret to kill
a hug or a handshake, a nod or a wink
the thoughts in my head not as pure as you think
the secret not my choice , neccesity i fear
in truth i can not hold u as near
i must know for sure before i can act
place my aces on the table, but do so with tact
now before me lies clearly the task
to find if you also wear the same mask
----------
5.
I spread my wings eatsward and westward
outstreached to the sky
I fly
soaring free
no destination
just gratified movement
I can feel my heartbeat
the life-giving air winding into my lungs
breathing me alive
willing, pushing me on
higher
further
deeper into the night
the own life beating away
passing as rapid as a drum
thumping with the very rhythm of life
gliding now downwards
easily and unhindred
then suddenly
a snap
something is pulling me home
back to earth
back to normal life
a life with an ordinary rhythm
an ordinary beat
but the sun from home is less cruel
and the grass on the other side is no more green
im happy at home
i believe in the old saying
HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS!
----------
6.
Dont make me wear your chains
Just because you can not see me like I am
I hope one day you will wake up
And see the person I keep within
A little more shakey
And a little less loud
Someone yearning for that which others mock
And call nothing
But nothingness is better than the emptiness I know
So take off the chains
And set me free
----------
7.
I hold the knife
It shakes before me
and unsleeping still
your eyes can see
but this I must
to free my spirit
this simple blade
can set me free
there will be pain
I cannot help
but better off
we both will be
so with the knife
which is my truth
i cut the bond
that ties you to me
----------
8.
truth
is light
as day
is night
strangers
to friends
as finish
to ends
heart
with soul
as prize
to goal
and you
to I
as blue
to the sky
----------
9.
Initial shock
Immediate pain
Scarlet tears form tracks on the perfect ivory
Then serenity
Total peace
As hate and anger are washed away
Opened eyes
Closed heart
Tears flow to the earth with drops that are shed
Relief everlasting
Love is gone
All emotions are forever dead
----------
10.
take away from me my heart
for it contains your love
take away from me my life
it fits you like a glove
take away from me my soul
and mould it to your own
for you are with me crown my heart
my soul is but your throne
----------
11.
i lost the key
i could not help it
i wanted to tell you my secrets
but for so long they were hidden
in the box
under the stairs
with a little padlock on them
and now i have no key
and when my secrets are no longer mine
and you wish to take possesion of them
you will find the key
for only you know where it is
i know you do
you have hidden it from me
it is not that you want my secrets
but neither do you want anyone else to have them
and incase i should slip up
and let the cat out of the bag
you have protected me
by hiding the key
but i ask you one favour
when my secrets are no longer mine
free them
for the whole world to know
----------
12.
The blacklight fades into the distance
The sun is shining on your heart
Each new ray of sunshine
Sees the death of a star
And the birth of a hope
I see you sillouetted against the dawn
Each blade of grass to your hair
Each drop of dew to your eyes
I bend towards you as a daisy to the light
Turning my life to your care
And my soul to your gentle hands
The birth of the sun
Awakens us to our love
Joining hands
Locking hearts
Sharing forever our new found heaven
A secret
Not to share
But to live
And knowng eternal we will be
In our paradise
In a dream
Our reality
----------

OK, I need your opinions. Are they good? What needs improving? What do you think they are about? What do they mean to you? Any constructive comments to help me? And, can you think of titles for ANY of them?

Thank you...

Mags

And this my friends, is why I chose Mags as my favorite poet and therefore wrote my term paper about her.

I really liked the first two. Most of the others... had a bit discontinuative feel to them. They were all good none the less.

I know, a lot of them were written at a time when I was real confused. I have this probem sometimes with poems, I cant get the words to say what I mean.... so during that stage, I said what I ment, and disregarded the words...

The first two are deffinatly my favourites (no prizes for guessing who they are about), although, I do like the last one, for sentimental reasons (OK, only caus its about Daniel...)

And Kris, Im positivly blushing..... *blows kisses* thank you...

During those times, I threw all realism to trash, and summoned up an image that gave me the feeling, and then wrote it.

And here would be the main reason, apart from the wonderful, beautiful and talented Mags herself, I decided to write my term paper on her...

The Half Empty Optimist

As the world spins once upon its axis
And the half empty optimist drowns her sorrows                                                     She dreams of all her dead todays
And looks for lost tommorrows
She is searching for the truth
The needle in the hay
She is hiding from the hurt
The lies that people say
To have a rainbow put up with the rain
And smile when you want to frown
But the half empty optimist sheds another tear
As her world turns upside down
Her appearence is as her state of mind
Chaos and disaray
The half empty optimist will soon pick up the pieces
Tommorrow is another day
The phases of the moon have waned in and out
The half empty optimist cries for her loss
She is further down the line, and getting nowhere fast
A rolling stone that gathers no moss
Her head in her hands and her love in her mind                                                            Her heart in pieces on the floor
The stalemates silence was broken by the King                                                            A Queens capture has settled the score
The rain falls now, the drops ripple in her glass                                                           Her life had been a fairytale, once upon a time                                                            But her sorrow now spreads as ripples in a pond
In love there is no reason or rhyme
Held by invisable threads of hope
The half empty optimist continues to delay
Dont put off until tommorrow
What you can do today
The four seasons have each played their overture                                                      The half empty optimist is finally at peace
The winter plays her crecendo of final truth
Music soothes the savage beast
As black as the clouds, as fallen as the rain                                                             The goodbyes, one by one
Now the half empty optimist sheds no tears                                                           For her mourning is done
Her last days on earth were as empty as a pocket
With hollowness she was filled
She is no longer half empty, longing to be half full
Her optimist's glass was spilled
One lonely magpie sits upon her legend
Above her headstone
Declaring to the world that the half empty optimist
Is single, solitary, alone

Mags, the first one was...It really touched me so deep. I'd have to keep that on my table. That was superb. And since you asked for titles, oppinions, etc, I will pick this one. It reminded me of one of the most touching quotes in movie history, where Ricky from American Beauty says "Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world that I feel my heart's going to cave in"
And then, in the end, Kevin Spacey says:
"I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me... but it's hard to stay mad, when there's so much
beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about
to burst... And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life.."
This is what your first poem made me think off.
I could interpret it as something about love,  this part:
"Think of me
and as you do
take my life and hold it
as sands flit through your fingers
dont try to catch one grain
dont try to stop a moment passing "

hold an idea, for me, also met in The Prophet, the "Of Marriage" part. This intercorrelation of lives, something in commin and yet letting everything flow it's own way, not always interfering, enjoying every moment, it's great. Tell me if I'm too far off Wink

"let the time flee
dont cling to what has gone
but look to what you dream "

Yeah, this is one for me, I should learn to do this. I also love how you continue this, it doesn't necesarily have to be a whole new verse, it could be the continuance, like "look to what you dream, dream of me..." I don't know if you meant it like this.

"Dream of me
and as you do
take my heart and hold it "

And as a title? Clepsydre.

Thank you, I love your interpritaion of the poem, and this is what I want from my poetry, that people connect with it, and that it reminds them of other things (thanks for the quotes...)

Could you explain your suggestion for the title? Sounds interesting...

Well I hope the word exists in English...Anyway the flowing of the sands, the sands of love, like the ones of time, that was the first idea. Then the fact that  you mentioned not trying to stop a moment's passing, you can't stop the clepsydre sand flowing, not stopping one grain. And the fact that it never stops, it goes on and on like that...That's what you poem suggested. To me.

You mean it? Thumbsup I've always been a fan of titles and  intepreting. People say I do that too much.

Sorrow...

Wow. Wow.

I absolutely loved number 3.

And I thank you for opening out your heart like that, letting total strangers peek into your most precious feelings.
Don't know about the others, but it sure touched me. Smile

Hugs
Noa.

If you can't beat them, eat them.
