when you dial a phone number, and you get that stupid "when dialing an area code, please dial 1 before the number..."

It happens up here, too. For some reason I'm usually in a rush whenever I'm trying to call long distance, so the Valiumed-out voice of the woman telling me to "please hang up and try my call again" makes my skin crawl.
