Winter Solstice | Maybe the best song ever.
This is IMHO one of the best songs ever. It lulls me into a image of myself walking behind roadless distances, finally a small sleeping town, and on to the woods behind. And it's bitter cold. The way I like it. Typical Finnish winter night.

-Winter Solstice-

Snow is everywhere
and no road anywhere
I'm returning
to where I left from
Silvery moon is shining
Lighting the cold skies
I'm gazing the journey
Try to estimate the distance

Did I finally leave
Towards the north from tales
that is always far away
that you don't meet on the roads

This year, there'll be blight
cattle will close up
fetuses will freeze to wombs
and love for life will die
On the riverside
on the eastbank
I choke to my cough
hugging the cold for warmth

Did I finally leave
Towards the north from tales
that is always far away
that you don't meet on the roads

Now, past the stairs and the well
through the bushes and if it's freezing
past the observatory
and through the woods, over the hill
to the spring
where the water's black, and not frozen
There rests a boy, pale
from whose mouth
runs a child's spirit to the water

Did I finally leave
Towards the north from tales
that is always far away
that you don't meet on the roads

"What did the city get from you, Montag?"
"Ashes"
