i've got an interview on tuesday with this company called "adlab". basically, i'll be answering phones all day. j.a. used to work there and says she's 85% sure i'll get the job.
also, a few weeks ago i faxed my resume out to playboy. i can't even remember what position they're hiring for, i just thought it'd be funny as hell to work for playboy. i got a post card confirming that they got my resume, and they're supposedly "checking my references"...
then, this couple who live next door are moving about two subway stops away from us, and they're looking to hire a dog walker. yes, i'd be picking up dog shit, but i'd be getting paid more money to pick up dog shit than i've ever been paid in my life.

basically, i think they can decide whether they want to hire me on after the four days of paid training.
what i'm going to be doing is sitting at work station (basically a small table, a phone and a computer) and answering incoming calls all day.
what adlab does is screen applicants for other companies.
say office depot is hiring. they contract us, and then people see an ad that says that office depot is hiring with our number (and a specific extension number) underneath it.
the phone rings, the system notifies me what company/position this person is calling about (as designated by the extension they dialed) and i ask them a series of questions. some of the questions are known as "disqualifiers", so if they answer them in a way other than what is expected, they're basically out of the race for the position.
if they answer everything right, however, i schedule them an appointment with the company.
i dunno how that works right now. i assume i consult the network to see when the soonest possible opening for them is, and then i enter their appointment into the database, and so on...
i dunno.
i'll keep you posted.
