absurdity | i think this belongs here...

every now and then i think everyone just stops and realizes how absurd human life is.
some people handle it differently than others. some laugh, and some jump out of the windows of tall buildings.
i was just thinking about how fucking strange all of this is. creation, what a fucking mess, huh?
i guess this was sorta' sparked by the drug-fueled teenage mini-tirade in "traffic", where the american drug czar's daughter is gettin' fucked up and talking about typical "drugged" topics...
i mean, why do we always have to think about something in reference to something else? we create this bizarre web in our minds. like, someone might say "oh, i didn't really like this movie! i was a lot like that other movie, but it wasn't nearly as good!".
well, it's a different movie, by proxy, so it deserves to be judged for what it is, not for what it is not, or against another film, as though there is some sort of "standard", or "ruler" by which to measure it.
but, no. humans must measure everything, because that leads to order.
ya' ever think about how animals see our world? the cleanliness and order must be utterly freakish to them. to them, we must seem like "the borg", from star trek.
and then on the other hand, we're really just these soft bags of meat. remember how easily the aliens in "stormship troopers" just popped the humans like walking zits? that was funny shit.

So what you're saying is that we need chaos? If you didn't comepare something to anything else, how would you know if it's good for you? If you like it. Ok, you'll feel "I love this! This is good!" without comparing it to some "standard". But this would mean missing so much else! Think about your relationships. You'd like someone, not compare her or him to anybody else, where would that lead you? How would you know, when you meet someone else, if it's worth a try? You'll think you like this person too, but you like the other one, so what's it gonna be?
Or were you just refering to immaterial things?

So you'd know what's better. For you, or in gemeral. without comparison, the words better, worse, good, bad, right, wrong, would all go away. And I'l tell you something else. You couldn't live without comparison. You may think that you'r enot comparing, but you always will. Every statement you make about something, contains a comparison.

also, "better" is an entirely relative term/concept.
how would i lose the ability to judge good from bad, and right from wrong? i could simply judge things as they pertain to my life and experience. i never said anything about disposing of preference or opinion.
i mean, if i ask an art student to critique a movie for me, they might say "well, this movie didn't have any character development." and my reply would be "who said you need character development? did you like the movie or not. i didn't ask if your textbook liked the movie, did i?"...
