well, sort of, but not really.
yes, you lose some hair when taking them out, but not as much as you think. a large bulk of the hair that you think you're "losing" is actually hair that would have been falling out, naturally, on a daily basis that simply wasn't allowed to fall away.
it's the same thing with braids. a lot of people who get braids done aren't aware of this, and when they get them taken out, they sometimes go off the handle because they think they're balding, when in fact, they're just seeing all the hair that was going to fall out anyway.
