Dateline just showed a story about the US nation's most dangerous intersections. It was part of a study by State Farm Insurance to figure out ways to reduce the number of traffic accidents  that occur. I just found out the 10th most dangerous intersection is right here in Sacramento in an area I had lived in for over a year. I lived about a mile away. What's strange is I never thought it was all that bad... Shrug
They usually aren't... until you get mowed down by some truck Smile
that reminds me of those commercials.

you think they're like ads for cars, or ice cream or something, and then WHAM! the driver gets hit by a truck or something, and the narrator says "didn't see that coming? neither did he... BUCKLE UP!", or some such...
Talk about being lucky... I didn't mention this to you guys, but I purchased a used car about a month ago. It's a black '99 accord with a 5 year warantee that I got for $19,000 (on a loan). Well, Sunday of last week I was making a left hand turn on our road to the apartment when a woman, driving a pickup truck, cruised through the red light in the opposite lane and slammed into the front of my car (I only had for two weeks at this time!) The accident did a significant amount of damage; the front bumber was ripped off and the safety bar in front of the radiator was bent so badly that it also bent the radiator. It's been a week and a half and they might start fixing it tommorrow...Burn

The only lucky part out of all of this was that me and my girlfriend weren't hurt...Starwars (God I love that smiley)
well, as much as they cost, cars are replaceable.

lives aren't.

glad to hear that you and your friend weren't hurt.

Thanks, man. Evolution
Practically every time I drive my car, I have a close call, but I always manage to remedy the situation before I hit anything. I'm an excellent driver-I drove my friend all the way to his house in bumfuck and back while tripping nuts off two hits of liquid. At night.

Driving on weed is so much easier. It kinda takes away from the high, though.
Last Monday, I was coming to the main road, and looked left, and the road was clear. Then looked right, and it was clear, so I put some gas, and look left again and there's this russian truck coming right at me and little too close for comfort. I think I've never accelerated so fast. Smile Train was luckily what didn't happen...
Heh, I've had situations like that too. I mean I'm a good driver, I've avoided so many accidents by swerving out of the way of stupid drivers. This one though really caught me off guard. I think it had to do with us being so close to home. I think there were some studies done that indicated that you become a less cautious driver when you are within a mile of your home.

I'm living proof. Dunce
I really should get my driver's license...
people always used to tell me that i needed to get my license when i lived in new hampshire, but i was like "fuck that noize!".

i mean, it's way more money than i'm willing to spend just for fucking transportation. maybe if i was a girl i would have done it, because that makes hitchhiking more dangerous, and insurance rates are lower.

but since i moved to chicago where the public transit system is pretty kick-ass, i don't have to worry about that shit.
I failed my exam three times and I have to get the damn license this summer, or else I'd have to take driving classes again...
Gettin a license costs some 1100€here. Add 300 if you want to drive anything above 3 tons, and few hundreds more if you want to have a trailer heavier than 750kg.
Yeah that surprised me in your email, too...What the hell's up with thaT? You have topay that much to drive a car? No thanks...
