i think about the odd little eccentricities of humanity all the time. i usually try to think about it from the perspective of the creatures that we see as the farthest from ourselves that we believe have some sort of "greater" understanding of reality.

like, how will aliens see us? will they just scratch their heads at our eating habits and prejudices? our racism? our lack of respect for our elders, and our lack of understanding for our young?

how do cats and dogs think about our living situation. we can just take them and own them. feed them the same food every day and wonder why their breath stinks. we let them shit in boxes of sand, or on the lawn, but we shit in a magic bowl filled with water. we eat out of a big cold white thing that opens up. we leave the house for long periods of time and come back on a pretty regular schedule. we wear coverings on our bodies.

i mean, what the fuck?

are we even going to be able to understand aliens? like, say one dude's just hanging out in his house some day and he realizes the temperature drops a good 10 degrees, and then all of the sudden he starts trippin' out, and he gets a body-jolting shock.

and he never realizes what happened.

an alien fuckin' floated into his living room and tried to talk to him in alien-ese, and us humans just can't handle their mode of communication.

argh. shit like this drives me batty.

I swear Foe, sometimes you think too much. But even if our behaviours might seem strange, I don't thinkt hat another civilization would have a hard time understanding it. Maybe the would have difficulties in finding ameaning, or a cause for most of this, but then again...

Or maybe they laugh at our inability to create complicated plots and schemes for taking power. Perhaps their culture is based on corruption and backstabbing... Who knows... (I'm having a counter opinion day today )

They're probably looking at us the same way the rest of America looks at Texans. To them, we're just a backward, misguided ape-descended subspieces attempting to control each other's lives.

And I bet they're really getting a kick out of the fact that most of us don't even REALIZE we're a backward, misguided ape-descended subspieces trying to control each other's lives-and if you even tried to convince them of this fact, they'd use their outdated religious teachings to condemn your knowledge of how things really work.

No wonder they haven't made contact with us yet. It's like the prime directive from Star Trek-they don't make contact with primitive cultures who aren't ready to make that step.
