word on the wrestling news and rumors sites is that the wwf may be sued for using the ecw brand name on their programming. y'see, wwf never bought ecw, and supposedly, the only reason they had been using the name on wwf television is that someone convinced vince mcmahon that paul heyman owned the trademark. but he doesn't. it's rather messy, too. y'see, when ecw filed for bankruptcy, a company named "HHG" bought it, but apparently, paul heyman himself owns 40% of this "HHG". and supposedly, even if the wwf bought the ecw trademark, they wouldn't legally be allowed to use it on television for an undefined period of time. although, that wouldn't necessarily stop them from doing it anyway. i think the easy way out of this is to truly merge ecw and wcw into one company. now, right off the top of your head, you might say "sure, call it ecwcw!". well, that sounds nice at first, but what would "ecwcw" stand for? "extreme championship world championship wrestling"? that's not gonna work. i propose "EWCW". Extreme World Championship Wrestling. and just to keep the ecw flavor from being overwhelmed by the overpowering presence of the wcw name, i say do the logo in the old "EC F'N W" style, like this... thoughts?

It's a nice idea, but would put a damper on the theoretical WCW/ECW feud that some have predicted in six or so months. I like the logo, though.

well, y'see - this would just be a temporary thing, until the wwf gains the rights to the ecw trademark...

The WWF will work somethign out to notslow the programming. They will settle out of court and you won't see anything different on television.

word. it looks like the wwf is untouchable. i mean, it looked like the world wildlife fund was pretty close to fucking vince right up the shitter for violating an agreement they'd made in the 80's about the use of the term "wwf", but almost nothing has come of it, from what i've heard...

It was my understanding that the website was going to have to change its address and that they'd have to start downplaying the term "WWF" and focus on the more cumbersome "world wrestling federation", but you're right; it seems to be business as usual.

i think as far as the website is concerned, they may have to change it to "wwfwrestling.com", just to save the idiots who don't know what an ".org" domain is from getting a brain cramp.
