Are any of you into watching anime? If you are, what are your favorite movies or series?

Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D, The Ping Pong Club, Perfect Blue, Ghost In The Shell, Vampire Princess Miyu.

As cheesy as they are, I'm always going to have a soft spot in my heart for Fist Of The North Star and Golgo 13:The Professional.

...And a friend is going to be burning the entire "Neon Genesis Evangelion" series for me, which I keep hearing great stuff about.

Ghost in the Shell, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Serial Experiments: Lain. The Vision of Escaflawne was a good one too, and so was Maze (though these two are more on the light side ).

I remember that I liked Macross when it came from TV, but I was like 6 or 7 then. I believe it's called Robotech in the US.

Nersh: If you like the end of Eva (once you've seen it, that is), I recommend Lain. It has a bit Matrix-y theme to it.

And if you guess by what the script to Eva was inspired, I'll give you a cookie. I guessed it (to the amazement of my buddies) since it was something very personal to me too.

Heh, Foe is talking about Urotsukidoji, a highly erotic animation. I had that one and still have number II The Legend of the Demon Womb.

Not alot of japanime is pornographic. Most of it is very violent though, but Japanese animation isn't entirely intended for children like animation is here in the states. Thank Disney for that.

I would highly recommend Neon Genesis, it's awesome. Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D, Vampire Princess Miyu were all very good also.

I also like the Record of Lodoss War series. I just bought the DVD, a very good buy considering the same episodes on VHS can cost $50 more for the set. Plus the DVD is a hybrid with several language options to choose from.

i guess. if you consider space demons with multiple sets of genitalia raping women until they explode as erotic...

i have the opportunity to "the music box theatre" (same joint where i saw "spike and mike's sick and twisted animation festival" and see "vampire hunter d: bloodlust" on thursday.

I saw the first one or two episodes of Lodoss War and liked it a lot.  I actually nearly bought the DVD myself a couple of weeks ago.

PD, Honky: "Hentai" is the term used to describe pornographic anime.  All hentai is anime and pornographic; not all anime is hentai or pornographic.

BTW, Robb: A friend told me that the sequel to Ninja Scroll absolutely sucked.  Have you seen it, and if so, do you agree?

...I love having Ninja Scroll on DVD.  Watching it in Japanese is great, plus watching the duel in the forest in frame-by-frame is a treat.

I had never heard of a sequel to Ninja Scroll so I looked it up. It turns out there is no sequel, but someone trying to cash in on the success of Ninja Scroll.

Check these links out:
manga.com - FAQ

Nightfall Ninja Scroll - Possibly the real sequel, yet to be released.
